Copy of display label in Joan Stevenson file reads: This microscope was presented to the Western University Medical School by Dr. W. Waugh who used it as a student in McGill University in 1877-1878 under the guidance of Sir William Osler. Sir William no doubt looked through this microscope which was one of the first to be used in Canada for the instruction of medical students in clinical laboratory methods. Take a look and you will find the lens not bad. Another objective of higher power is a part of the outfit. Notice the simple but good mechanical stage and the unique but serviceable fine adjustment. |
