Search our database of over 1200 objects which represent the practice and teaching of health and medicine.
Use the Keyword Search for a general search across multiple fields. Keyword searches use OR as the default connector between words (e.g. a search for Tiemann amputation will return records associated with Tiemann OR amputation). To find records with both keywords, type AND between the two words. To search for a specific phrase, use quotes (e.g. "Joseph Lister"). Use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard (e.g. a search for histor* would find records containing history, histories, historical, etc.). Searches are not case sensitive.
The Advanced Search is more specific. You can search for a word or phrase within one category or use multiple categories to further narrow down your results. Phrase searching with quotes and use of wildcards (*) is available.
Our artifacts are also classified by Medical Subject Headings from the National Library of Medicine. This search function is recommended for those already familiar with MeSH Search Terms.
